The changing face of Europe from 1000 AD to 2000 AD. It would have been awesome if they had an year counter at a corner.

A beautiful song from the Mani Ratnam, A.R Rahman and Veturi triumvirate. Not their best work together but definitely very nostalgic to a lot of telugu people in their twenties

The Secretary

It is quite an important position. The secretaries are the cogs in the machinery called the firm keeping everything in place and running in order smoothly. Secretaries arent as big a deal in India as they should be(hey, when do things ever happen smoothly here?) but they sure seem to be quite vital in offices all over the western world, especially USA.

What makes me come to this conclusion? Their media ofcourse. Watch enough movies and tv and you will know what I mean. I am a huge fan of Mad Men and you will see every partner/accounts person/creative head having a secretary. These secretaries schedule appointments, print out documents and generally handle all the small things they need to be done. In that era women took up secretarial positions as a starting step to a career or other things.

The West Wing has been a recent find and the role of the secretaries in this white house drama is even higher. They are managing the people who help run the administration, people who are the hand and feet and other critical organs to the POTUS. These people are slogging it out with congressmen and senators, diplomats and bureaucrats, key republicans and democrats, the military and the media to take care of the public by doling out laws and policies and handling situations and crises. Their secretaries are the one keeping them highly functional beings. They are akin mothers and wives to these very brilliant individuals who wouldnt know what to do without them. There are no secrets between an executive and his secretary.

The secretary, like the tv shows seem to portray, know their bosses really well. They know their habits, lifestyles, tastes, thought processes and needs maybe better than the boss himself. The other Donna (From Suits) is perhaps a tribute to the Donna from West Wing, who knows her boss really well and knows/keeps the pulse of the workplace. They are extremely efficient and incredibly indispensable. Blessed are the people with such secretaries.

For the writing team, The secretary (who has been around for long)is an ideal character to have a lovely banter with setting up comedy, drama and even the idea of romance (but no romance itself). If you have something going on you can depend on the secretaries to know!

Long live the Secretaries!

This is one of those songs you hear and it gets stuck in your head instantly. It is a good song but neither particularly great nor new but there is a hook within the song (like ‘mar jayian , tere bin mar jayian re’ line) here which compels you to revisit this song. The only way to get rid of it listen to it as many times you can quickly and you will get bored. Not one of those songs which will stick for ever. Pop but not classic.

Never-before-seen photos from 100 years ago tell vivid story of gritty New York City Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2134408/Never-seen-photos-100-years-ago-tell-vivid-story-gritty-New-York-City.html

Almost a million images of New York and its municipal operations have been made public for the first time on the internet.

The city’s Department of Records officially announced the debut of the photo database.

Culled from the Municipal Archives collection of more than 2.2 million images going back to the mid-1800s, the 870,000 photographs feature all manner of city oversight — from stately ports and bridges to grisly gangland killings.
